Konstantinos Lampsias, representative of the shipowner, He Xu, deputy general manager of DSIC, and Lin Feng, deputy general manager of CSTC and other representatives attended the ceremony.

Influenced by multiple factors, VLCC freight rates were once weak, coupled with soaring new shipbuilding prices in recent years, VLCC new shipbuilding orders have been quite scarce in the past two years. DSIC, as well-known VLCC construction shipyard in China, has historically built and delivered over 100 VLCCs for domestic and foreign shipowners, ranking first in delivery quantity in China. This signing means that DSIC has taken the lead in breaking the global VLCC order shortage in recent years, returning to VLCC construction field, and also marks Dynacom as the first international shipowner to place orders for VLCC this year. In April of this year, the two sides have signed 10 units of 115,000dwt product tankers, and this renewed collaboration on VLCC is also a strong witness to the long-term mutual trust and cooperation between the two sides.

This type of ship is independently developed and designed by DSIC, which delivered two 307,000dwt VLCCs for Dynacom in 2022, and the VLCC signed this time is a continuous upgrade of the previous ship type. With total length of about 333m, molded width of 60m, depth of 30m, and carrying capacity of approximately 307,000 tons, it not only meets the emission restrictions of NOx and SOx in global and special control regions, but also meets EEDI PHASE III standard. The ship is energy-saving and environmental protection green VLCC with excellent port suitability and strong market competitiveness.

After the project takes effect, it is planned to be built in DSIC Tianjin base, which is positioned as the medium and large civilian shipbuilding base according to the strategic layout of "one headquarters and three bases" of DSIC. Including the two VLCCs signed this time, Tianjin Base currently holds 20 orders of various ship types, and the delivery schedule has been scheduled to 2027, serving customers including Mediterranean Shipping Company and CMA CGM of France. Nowadays, the VLCC for Greek ship magnate have been successfully added to the product line of DSIC Tianjin, laying solid foundation for the subsequent VLCCs undertaken by DSIC Tianjin.

The signing of the contract has deepened the cooperation friendship between DYNACOM and DSIC, demonstrated the recognition of shipowner to DSIC brand and quality, and will further enhance and consolidate the international market share and leading position in the field of VLCC construction for DSIC.
